Growing up with a background in soul and electronic music, singer, songwriter, and producer Honda Carter creates in contemporary genres, but with a unique approach. Honda sees genres like Hip-hop and R&B as perfect vessels to sneak in unconventional vocal inflections and bold production choices the listener can still connect with. Wearing his influences on his shoulder, Honda found himself working with eminent Hip-hop artists SUCH AS: Wiz Khalifa, Grammy award-Winning Songwriter Sam Barsh, Isaiah Rashad, and Jay Worthy.

Born Miles Murray Robert Smith in Vancouver Canada, Honda grew up in a musical family. At the age of 6, he was introduced to Soul music by his father, a Soul / R&B singer from Toronto. It was only natural for Honda to follow suit, he was enamored by the intricacy of vocal harmony. Later on in his youth, Honda became fixated on UK electronic music and naturally found artists like Bjรถrk and Thom Yorke to solidify his love for bending traditional electronic sounds with a contemporary, soulful feel. Hondaโ€™s music then found its own place on renowned platforms such as Soulection, setting the course for a successful songwriting career.

Additionally, Honda has also received support from DJs and music production heavy hitters, known for their contributions to modern music. His compositions have garnered recognition from luminaries such as Softest Hard, a Skrillex affiliate, and Hudson Mohawke, known for his work with Asap Rocky, Kanye West, Travis Scott, FKA Twigs, and Arca. This wide-ranging appeal speaks to Hondaโ€™s skill in defying genre boundaries.

Speaking to his already diverse background, Hondaโ€™s eye for style does not stop at just music. In 2020 while shooting promotional visuals with Photographer Rendell Catbagan (BMW, Arcteryx), photos of Honda were submitted to Vice Newsโ€™ ID Magazine where he ended up on the front page of their Instagram. This newfound recognition put Honda on a whole new trajectory of modeling, where he found himself shooting with photographers and e-commerce platforms across Canada.

Looking forward, Hondaโ€™s self-written work and future collaborations are poised to push artistic boundaries even further.
